Meet Dr. Alan Protzel

dr alan protzelMy name is Dr. Alan M. Protzel. I was born in New York City. I graduated from the Bronx High School of Science. I received my pre-professional degree from New York University and my Doctorate in Dental Surgery from New York University College of Dentistry. My first year residency in Oral and Maxillofacial surgery was at Lincoln Hospital in the Bronx. The next two years I spent doing Oral Surgery in U.S. Naval Dental Corp. After being discharged as a Lt. Commander I was in the Oral Surgery program at the graduate School of Medicine of the University of Pennsylvania. My last year of Residency was at the Bronx Municipal Center at Albert Einstein College of Medicine.

My practice started at this location in 1961 and has been here ever since. I am a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and a member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, American Dental Association, American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology, and a Fellow of American Society of Dental Anesthesiologists.

I have many hospital affiliations. This includes Chief of Oral and Maxillofacial surgery at St. Joseph Hospital. I have attending privileges at Northwell Long Island Jewish Medical Center, Northwell Syosset and Plainview Hospitals. 

My wife, Monica, and I have five children and six grandchildren.
